Challenge

Be Bold’s original brief from Sophie Horgan in 2018 was two-fold: for Horgan Homes to be recognised for the high quality of its construction and to support her to use her voice as a woman in the sector to attract more women to follow the same path.

Solution

A carefully planned positioning campaign was devised to ensure Sophie and her business were visible to relevant parts of the construction industry as well as to those in a position to influence the development of women's career paths through it.

Timely content, placed in the most impactful places and talking to the key stakeholders caused the right people and organisations to take Sophie's story to heart and to want to build her experience into their own causes and work to bring change for the better to the sector.

By being across developments in the sector and with a finger on its pulse, the Be Bold team were able to respond swiftly (and with appropriate, quality content) to opportunities as they arose, while supporting Sophie in a planned programme to build and maintain profile.

Results

Our strategy for Horgan Homes has seen the company now feature everywhere from ITV and BBC News to ShowHouse Magazine and the Evening Standard.

Sophie now has more than 45,000 followers on LinkedIn, where her updates helped secure her the title of one of the Top Influential Women in Construction in 2023 and in 2024 she was named one of the Magnificent Seven – female house builders coming together to promote a national campaign to encourage other women into construction.

Be Bold’s positioning work has resulted in Sophie joining the all-party parliamentary group on SME housebuilding and scooping the title of 2023 Best Small House Builder in the UK in the WhatHouse Awards.
